How to prepare for your first class!

Preparing for Your First Aqua Sculpt Class

The beauty of our Aqua Sculpt Pilates is in its simplicity in terms of preparation.

Here’s what you need to know before stepping into the pool:

1. What to Wear:

Comfort is key in any fitness regime, and our Float Fitness Pilates is no exception.

Most female participants find that shorts paired with a sports bra or top works best. Some prefer gym leggings which are perfectly fine too just be mindful you will need to get into the pool with your leggings on. Your attire should have the support you need while being covered when bending and stretching. Most male participants were swim shorts and some feel more comfortable with a t-shirt. Whatever you choose to wear, the fabric should be water-friendly and snug to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions.

2. Arrive on time:

At your first class you will learn how to connect/moor your board so please arrive with plenty of time. Please also allocate extra time for parking and finding the pool.

3. Arriving with an Open Mind:

No special preparation is needed besides coming to class with a willingness to try something new. Expect a full-body workout, the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, and an enjoyable introduction to a novel fitness form.

What to Expect in Your First Class

1. Getting Wet:

First things first, you will get wet! Classes are held in swimming pools, so you will need to enter the water to set up and mount your board.

2. A Full Body Workout:

Your instructor will lead you through a series of exercises, starting with classical mat Pilates moves to get you warmed up. Expect our signature “Sculpt Wave” sequence and some playful balance teasers that will challenge your coordination and stability.

3. Building Trust with the Board:

One of the unique aspects of this class is learning to trust your floating board. It’s quite difficult to actually fall off, but your brain may not realise this initially. The first session is about building this trust and getting accustomed to the sensation of floating while exercising.

4. Enjoyment Increases with Experience:

Many find that they enjoy their second and third sessions more as they become more comfortable and confident on the water.
